What do you want from your smart phone

12 May 2010 30 views No Comment

I am Iphone user since last two years. Ever since I have owned I can imagine life without it. Only thing I hate about it is strictly controlled by Apple.  Apple gets to decide who we get the service from, what software we can run on it. I can not write applications for unless I have a mac. Even if I write an application I can not publish it. I expect my smart phone could do more, had more feature and not controlled by a single company.

There are quite a few smart phone out there which are good but not in the same league as apple Iphone. Google Android based phones, RIM blackberry , Nokia Smart Phone and Palms smart phone are good but they missing key features offered by Iphone.

I am starting thread to discuss what consumers would like to see in their smart phones. If the designers of the smart phones are listening they incorporate these features in their future offerings. Here is the small list of features I wish my smart phone had.

1. Still Camera with good resolution, 1.5 Mpixel camera is not good enough. Minimum 3MPX camera is require for good image quality.
2. User replaceable battery, no custom battery like Iphone
3. GPS with better accuracy
4. Open source APP development toolkit, ability to install APP by just dragging executable into the APP folder on the device flash memory.
5. Easy online APP download mechanism
7. Better touch screen resolution
8. Low power consumption
9. Ability to stream audio through phone bluetooth
10. Standard cable for charging the phone and data sync, for example use USB cable for charging and data/app sync. (I hate apple data cable)
11. Phone should be a phone, connection with computer should be optional. App forces users to connect to iTunes for variety of reasons.

What feature you like in your smart phone , I would like to hear your comments.
